Merry Christmas!

So this is a bit late, but I just wanted to say Merry Christmas to all of you! I hope that you had a great holiday with your family or friends. …and here’s to an AMAZING 2012!

(I’m not a craft blogger, but I just have to say that I made everything that you see in this photo (except the two tea light candles)! and yes, I’m a proud crafter!)

This is what it looks like…

In the chaos, peace. During the struggle, rest. While in pain, comfort. With all the hurt, joy. At the end of it all, hope. This is what it looks like when God is all around! It’s the eye of the hurricane…

Listening to the song “What Does It Sound Like” by Bethel Live, that line stating God is all around really grabbed me. I have needed to run back to that promise time and time again. So today, in needing to reach out and hold on to that word, I thought I should just create something of a reminder. I grabbed my photos, opened up my computer and put this together. May it encourage you to remember that God is truly all around you, at all times! Look around. Whatever situation you are in, God is there!

Birthday Weekend

Our kids birthdays are one week apart, so this year it just made sense to have a party right in the middle of the two dates! It was pretty low key (which this mom and dad like) and a lot of fun for the two of them. We painted peg people into fairies and superheroes, ate hot dogs and brats, blew out candles, opened presents, and ate cupcakes! I had made cookies and cream cupcakes for Huck, and strawberry cupcakes for Shiloh-Grace…and man were they good!

Everything looks perfect! I love the colors of the decor, the peg people and the candle holders. Where did you find the candle holders?

p.s. Would you mind sharing the recipe for the strawberry cupcakes? :-)

foto//friday . Olympic Stadium Beijing

I just got back from a trip to Japan and China, so I will have to use my foto//friday spot to show you a few pictures! I LOVE the Olympics…I mean, who doesn’t?! So even though I had one day in Beijing, I had to get to the site of the 2008 Olympics. It was really cool to see the landmarks where so many amazing things took place. Two things that I remember were amazing opening ceremony and Michael Phelps’ recording setting performances.  Here is just a glimpse at the Bird’s Nest Stadium and the a close up of the Cube (Aquatics Center) that is directly across from the stadium.
