A Family Wedding

A few weekends ago we packed the family up, grabbed plenty of movies for the kids, and headed south for Cheyenne’s Granddaddy’s wedding. We didn’t make it down to West Monroe for Christmas this past year, so we were sure to make this trip! It is always fun to hang out with the family…and the kids love all the attention they get from everybody.

So I thought I would share some images from that beautiful ceremony.

this is awesome man! love this post!

our kids are growing up

Just the other day I had one of those moments where I looked at my daughter and thought “wow! she is really growing up!” It seems somewhat surreal that so much time has passed since first holding her in my arms, and each day time just seems to move faster.

One night back when SG was about 21-months-old we rushed her to the emergency room in Nashville. She was coughing very badly and having a lot of trouble breathing. Scary for any parent, but especially when it is your first child. Long story short, she was fine, but had frequent bouts with croup. But that night at the hospital one of the nurses came out with a small stuffed bear that a local church had made for the kids who came into the hospital. She immediately calmed down, and “teddy” has been a part of our family ever since.

The other day I was talking with my neighbor and we started planning a session to photograph their youngest with her special “piggy”. “Piggy” has been a special member of their family, and “piggy” deserves to be in a photo session as well!

Then I got to work today and look what I found on our free table (a table where we can all bring in our items to discard and see if anyone sees them as a treasure before they are thrown away):

Aurora Illinois Kid

I got really sad…and couldn’t just let this cute little (obviously well loved) bear get thrown away. So I brought him home and gave him a little photo session. I bet he was such a comfort to some little one through scary thunderstorms, probably made a trip to the doctor and left with a band-aid to prove that he had been brave as well, maybe even lost an arm and had to go to the hospital. I felt like I could feel the memories that this bear had been a part of coming to life as he laid there on the free table.

So maybe you want to capture those memories that your kids have had with their “special friends”…shoot me a message and we can set up a special session. Don’t let these memories slip away from you! Our kids are growing up way too fast…

The Gottschalk Family

Meet the Gottschalk family. I have not only had the privilege of photographing this family numerous times (watching these kids grow up), but they are some of our best friends. Check out the 2009 Christmas card that I created for them, and see how much these kids have grown over the last year. I cannot say enough great things about this family. These parents are some of the most giving and loving people that I have had in my life. I always look forward to getting an opportunity to give them great images of their family as they grow each year. Plus just look at the love between these parents…such a great example of a loving marriage!

Now here are their three beautiful children! Each of them have very unique personalities…and I know that my kids are glad to have such great friends as they grow up!

I have to admit that the last photo just melts my heart! Look at those eyes.

Show the Gottschalks some love… Thanks for being such wonderful clients, and more importantly FRIENDS!

boxes of goodness delivered

I have been waiting for the 31st for about a week now, constantly checking my UPS tracking numbers. Today I got three boxes of my 2011 rojo foto//design weddings brochure, and my new contract packaging. I am so excited to be able to send these to my 2011 brides! …so I thought I would share with everyone.

The packaging for my contracts are from Loktah! Amazing products…and who would have thought they are out of Monroe, Louisiana. I took the best thing out of Monroe back in August of 2003 (my beautiful wife), but I see that new beautiful things have been springing up down in the south land! I can’t wait to try and look them up the next time we are down visiting family.

Also another thanks to the Luxecetera team for doing an awesome job on my branding!

Also inside of that amazing package is the new 2011 rojo foto//design wedding brochure/booklet! 24 amazing pages of beautiful brides, and wonderful testimonies. I would love to send you a copy…maybe you want to check and see if I have a date available this year, just let me know! But you can check out the photos below or download the the electronic version:

Hi Robert,

Your work is EPIC. I wish if you can just fly to Sudan for my wedding. >.<

I also really love your graphic work. I work at this new agro-commodity company called SNS as a marketing coordinator. Its a young company just a year old. So I was looking into brochures and i loved the one you used for the wedding above.

So would you be interested, is it possible you can help us out.

Best regards,

Hiba
