The Francis Family

I have gotten to know the Francis family over the last couple years, and each time I get to be around them I always leave inspired. They have such a wonderful heart for people, and Anthony can make an amazing cappuccino with illy coffee! Both Anthony and Natallia also know how to fix some great food, and talk about great food. I don’t really know how to join in that conversation because I just pretty much eat and don’t worry too much about my palette. Their two kids are so fun to be around. Aleyna loves to dress up, and Gavin loves cars and anything “boy”. Thanks for letting me photograph you guys! I count it an honor to call you friends…

TEAMHorizons Preview

Another issue of TEAMHorizons is at the printer, hopefully about to be mailed out to all of the subscribers by Friday. It is always fun to see an issue come together, even though there is a level of frustration that accompanies each story. I am so blessed to get to photograph and design something that tells amazing stories!

Back in May I traveled to the Czech Republic and Austria, and then at the beginning of August I was down in Mexico.

I thought I would just share a preview of some of the spreads from this issue. If you would like to see the full digital issue, you can visit the TEAMHorizons media page.

Corina and Miles Engaged

Corina and Miles love to take road trips. So they packed up their car and left Delaware to come out to the midwest for their engagement session. It was so great to finally meet them, and spend the day capturing some beautiful photographs.

We waited out the rain that threatened our mid-morning shoot at one of my favorite breakfast spots in Aurora, Harner’s Bakery. After the rain moved out, and we had our fill of breakfast, it turned out to be a beautiful day.

Corina had so many details that she had already thought through. Their wedding (September 5, 2010) is going to be held at Ambiance Antiques, an antique store in San Francisco. She had already planned for the guys boutonnieres to be designed out of buttons, so they stopped and bought a large jar of buttons at an antique store. They added a lot of fun to our last destination.

Miles is in the United States Air Force, so I loved the little detail of the plane pins on her skirt. I look forward to showing the photos of their wedding! I know they have a lot of great stuff planned.

Anna and Travis — Delafield, Wisconsin

Anna and Travis are so much fun to be around. They both have contagious smiles and are such warm and friendly people that you want to stay friends with them for the rest of your life! It has been my honor to photograph Anna’s two other siblings, so I was looking forward to another opportunity to hand out with the Saindon family! Anna and Travis picked out a beautiful chapel in Delafield, Wisconsin called the Noble Victory Memorial Chapel located on the grounds of St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy. I remember in our first consultation, Anna mentioned the big red doors!

The ceremony was beautiful. One special touch was the addition of sign language interpreters. Anna works as a freelance sign language interpreter, so including this in her wedding was beautiful. You’ll also see in the reception shots people twirling their napkins over their heads. This is a tradition in deaf weddings – no clinking on the glasses to get the couple to kiss, everyone has to twirl their napkins above their heads.

Anna and Travis are a lot of fun to be around. They love to laugh together, make funny faces, and it is so easy to see their love for each other. We did some shots after the wedding on the ground of the Military Academy, and then we also did some shots in New York City, at the reception that they had for all of their friends who couldn’t make it to the wedding. Travis is from Staten Island, and now they are both residents of the Island.

Travis made sure to include some of his background into the day as well. At the reception there was a canvas for guests to add a “stroke” to the collaborative painting. Travis teaches high school art. …and I can’t end the post without including a picture of the epic game of musical chairs! What a fun day celebrating two wonderfully fun people! Best wishes to Anna and Travis.
