Molly and Steve . Queen of All Saints

Molly and Steve were such wonderful people to work with. They are such a gracious couple, and I really felt like through the last few months I made some new friends. Steve even gave me a clipping of his Kombucha Scoby when I delivered the proofs! Thanks Molly and Steve for choosing “rojo”. All the best to you guys!

Even thought it was early November, with the strange Chicago weather this fall/winter, these guys had a beautiful day for a wedding! I know that I have posted way too many photos, but bear with me. I had to show off these florals from Forget Me Knodt! These were so beautiful, and with each bouquets containing a number of fresh herbs,  I thought I would end up eating one of them before the day was over! (On a side note, if you are looking for a florist, look no further!) I also loved how Steve’s love for brewing his own beer was shown with hops added to his (and each groomsmen’s) boutonniere. You can also see his favorite selection of beer for the reception! So enjoy the extended preview of Molly and Steve’s amazing wedding day.

Christina and Kyle . Byron Colby Barn Wedding

Back in October I had the privilege of assisting Maggie Fortson at a wedding at Byron Colby Barn in Grayslake, IL. The weather was perfect, the wedding was beautiful, and the barn is such a great venue! I just thought that I would share a few of the images that I took that day. I am looking forward to being back at the barn for two more weddings in 2012!

Gina + Jordan . Love Never Fails Giveaway Winners

I just wanted to show you some images from Gina and Jordan’s big day in Modesto, CA. I was really looking forward to this wedding since they were the winners of the first “Love Never Fails” Giveaway. It was such a pleasure to be a part of this day, celebrating their love that truly “never failed”. Even though it rained all day, many friends and family gathered around this couple and celebrated the start of their marriage. I know that many of you have read the story of Gina and Jordan, but if not, you should. Thanks for having a look at their images! I am look forward to the winners of the 2012 giveaway! (more information coming soon…)

i actually met the lady who did their engagement shots, and she has been working her way into more wedding photography. so i asked her if she wanted to bring her camera along! it worked out great! …but it would have been great to get to reconnect. hopefully it can happen somewhere, sometime soon.

It was nice to meet you, and I would TOTALLY love to reconnect! Thanks so much for allowing me to tag along with you! I had a great time and learned a few things in the process (by the way, I can’t stop using ellipses…go figure). You couldn’t have picked a better couple for your giveaway.

Your photos are amazing!

Gabe and Brad Wedding . Glen Ellyn

This wedding was special in a number of ways, but there is one thing that I will always remember about this day. Gabe and Brad heard me mention in our meetings that my wife is starting her photography classes in January. While sharing that with them, I also mentioned that we would love to be a husband/wife team one day. When they called me back, they mentioned that one condition on me photographing their wedding would be that I bring my wife along and let her shoot with me. “Even if nothing turns out,” they said! We were both so excited! So, this wedding will go down in the rojo history books as our first husband/wife wedding! I came to find out that Gabe and Brad both love to be a catalyst to help people reach their goals/dreams. A very SPECIAL thanks to you guys…I can’t wait to look back and say that this day was the day it all began!

But it wasn’t about us…it was about Gabe and Brad! They we so fun to work with, so laid back, and very crazy! I knew immediately, from their engagement session (trampoline, foot races…etc!), that they would have an awesome wedding day. I am so glad that I got to be a part of that. It was also very evident that these two are really loved by all the people around them. So, for their guests (many of them from out of town), they wanted to give them a true “Chicago” experience. There was Lou Malnati’s pizza, Garrett’s popcorn (the Chicago mix, of course), and Portillo’s chocolate cake! Now that’s my kind of reception! Anyways, enjoy the look at this wonderful day, and this beautiful couple!

Fantastic!! Love the ring shot!

Whitney and RW . Part Two

I know that I waited too long to get this second part on the blog, but it is still worth a look! I said it in the first post, but Whitney and RW had so many details in their wedding, with many great DIY aspects as well. It was great to see Whitney and RW’s lives (Whitney was an art major and RW works at a Library) intertwined into this special day. I loved the combination of  cotton and ginkgo leaves into the florals, all of the books (the Wilder Mansion was at one point a library) with the chalkboard paint and table numbers! Anyways, this was a great day. I was so glad to revisit it as I put together this part two blog. Again, congrats to RW and Whitney! May you guys have many, many years of love and happiness! Blessings to you guys! (Here’s part one, if you missed it!)
