Sometimes I look around and wonder how I got here. Am I really old enough to have two kids, a beautiful wife and a great job? I don’t really act my age, but so that I don’t embarrass anyone, I keep my inner goof off hidden pretty well. I grew up saying “yes, sir” and yes, ma’am”, so this crazy kid did learn to be polite.
Shiloh-Grace is our 8-year-old diva princess. When I see a dad walk his daughter down the aisle I have a flash-forward to what I am going to go through…I don’t think I will ever be ready for that day. Huck is our 4-year-old cowboy-loving-Ninjago whirlwind of a boy who loves to tackle his sister and fulfill the role of the "little brother". They both keep us on our toes, and love to say “cheese” (I NEVER told them to say that, I promise) every time they see my camera. Cheyenne is my amazing wife (who was at one time a voice student of mine…but that is a whole different love story) is so supportive and the most amazing mother in the world! If you can’t tell, I am crazy about my family.
When I am not shooting weddings or portraits, I work as a photographer and graphic designer for TEAM. I have the wonderful privilege to photograph the stories of missionaries around the world for a semi-annual magazine TEAMHorizons.
Even before I was a photojournalist for TEAM, my life took me to a lot of beautiful places. When I was 12 my family moved to Kenya, and since then I have been struggling to put down roots. We love living in Aurora, Illinois (the Chicagoland area) and are actually approaching our “family record” for being in one place the longest. But I guess this is where I get my love for adventure.
I love to bring that adventure and curiosity into my work. I always make an effort to try new things, add a little touch of the unexpected to everything that I do, so that the finished product is truly “music to your eyes, good for your soul”.
