It was a tourist village…and I was upset. I didn’t want to be in a tourist village because that wasn’t real life. I had a pretty bad attitude until I started letting down my guard and trying to converse with the people. You can’t be angry and try to converse across two different languages. Arms waving in the air. My English comes out really slowly as if speaking slower will translate what I am saying into their language. I was even invited into some of their homes, greeted at the door with a shot of their corn liquor that crossed my eyes and burned down to my toes, and a traditional song sung while they stared right into my eyes! I did enjoy learning quite a bit about the Black Dress people. There will be an article in the next issue of TEAMHorizons (which is just about complete)! These two ladies were sitting off to the side and so we “chatted” for a bit, and then the camera comes out…
